The famous Youth American Grand Prix international ballet competition is currently holding its World Finals in New York City April 12-18!
Our school has a highly unusual SEVEN regional winners this year – all in New York now competing with the best in the world. There are only 12 regions in the world and over 5,000 dancers compete…yet only 300 dancers make it to the worlds!
The following Dallas Conservatory YAGP Regional 2013 top prizewinners are competing:
Soloist Winners Rachel Rohrich, 11, and Halle Bauer, 11, will compete at the Finals for top 9-11 year old in the world!
Lily Bines, 13, and Rachel Rohrich, 11, will compete their duet, “Seasons” for top Small Ensemble in the world.
Mila Tomizuka (9), Kaki Kennedy (10), Ellie McFarland (10) and Maddie Selby (13) will compete for top Large Ensemble in the world!
In addition, Kaki Kennedy (10), Ellie McFarland (10), who placed in the Top 12 for their duet “Candy Canes” were invited to New York to compete with that piece and will be competing.
“Chinese” with Kaitlyn Hennings (9), Maren Hamilton (9) and Lucy Harrington (8) also placed Top 12 and were invited to New York…but at their young age, we are reserving the world finals for another year:)
